Carmelo Raniolo a retired man of 65 years old, in my life I had two great loves: medicine & surgery and painting.
More than 30 years ago I left ‘medicine & surgery’ behind and opted to become a dentist having practised surgery for six years.
With painting I stopped about ten years ago, when I realised that it was costing me more than a fickle lover. In fact, the more you become aware of your talent, the greater your desire to become recognised for it. You are called ‘master’.
Since I was young, I have love to paint. At high school, my art teacher was fascinated by my creativity, my rude style and my way of using colours in expressing myself.
I have a (perhaps snobbish) disregard for art schools: in fact non of them influenced my style, my way of working as a painter.
To make mistakes, but always to stay true to oneself, has always been an important rule for me, in life and in painting. I am familiar with antique I love the impressionism, but luckily I have managed to keep all this at a distance, which enabled me to grow. What does art mean for me? Art is a way to express oneself, to speak, to convey ones thoughts, to take a flight of fancy into the mind, to communicate and to expound your opinions on life and the world, to eliminate what is ugly, negative, false, so that only purity remains.
But.....true love never dies and so the old warrior begins again, taking up the pen which for so many years (three quarters of my lifetime) has kept me awake at night, seeking to find a harmony of colour and to find an often impossible balance between the different emotions that always helped me creating my inner peace.
What do you think?
I would like your opinion, as a casual passer by. Buy a painting, but only if my work inspires you. Do not buy a painting as an investment...this would be a mistake. Only buy my work if you feel emotionally attached to it and if they can become a part of yourself.
Thank you for having read this and perhaps looked at my work.
Raniolo Carmelo
Ps. As I have already said, it is your opinion alone on my painting, that I wish to have, not the opinion of any critics, journalists or anyone else. My first exhibition was in Venezia in 1996, kind presented by Dr. Paolo Rizzo and thereafter I exhibited at Padova, Treviso, Parma, Bassano dell Grappa and indeed in many other exhibitions in Italy and abroad. Although the response has always been positive, I have not experienced tangible results.
Many thanks again for your kind attention.
